
Give and Take
What: First annual Give Two, Take One clothing swap and clothing drive presented by the Academy of Art University’s student fashion club and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco
When: Saturday, April 17th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Academy of Art University 79 Gallery, 79 New Montgomery Street (between Mission and Jessie Streets), San Francisco
Why: Update your overstuffed closet while enjoying live jazz music by The Sebastian Parker Trio, snagging beauty advice from local artist Chris Scott, and supporting a worthy cause.
Info: Entrance is free for those with swap tickets or donation clothing. Otherwise there is a $2 cash entrance fee. For every two items of clothing and/or accessories donated, donors will receive one “swap ticket” to exchange for one item of their choice at the event.
Acceptable donations include clothing, jewelry, shoes and other accessories such as hats, scarves, gloves, belts, and handbags. All items should be clean and in excellent condition. Undergarments, children’s clothing, or any items with signs of damage and stains will not be accepted. All remaining items will go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which helps to feed, clothe, and shelter more than 75,000 individuals per year.
Denim Do

What: Shop Social party hosted by Chictopia.com and DNA (Designers and Artists)
When: Tuesday, April 20, 6-9:30 p.m.
Where: W Hotel, 181 Third St., San Francisco
Why: Grab a cocktail while shopping for local, indie and established brands at 30 to 70% off retail.

Recycled Couture
What: St. Vincent de Paul’s Sixth Annual Discarded to Divine Auction
When: Thursday, April 29, 5 p.m. VIP party, 6 p.m. cocktail party and silent auction, 8 p.m. live auction
Where: The Hall at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1111 Gough St., San Francisco
Why: See donated clothes transformed into one-of-a-kind fashion and home décor, auctioned to benefit those suffering from poverty, homelessness and domestic violence.

Chill Out
What: Chillin’ Productions 12th Anniversary Party
When: Saturday, May 1, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
Where: Mezzanine, 444 Jessie Street, San Francisco
Why: Soak in DJ music and live painting while perusing the work of more than 180 local artists and 80 indie fashion designers.
